The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive modern German Skynex air defense systems.
What is known
The Wall Street Journal writes about this, citing Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger. We are talking about two systems. They were ordered for Ukraine by the German government. The approximate value of the contract is 200,000,000 euros. Armament deliveries should begin this year.
For those who are not in the know
Skynex is a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun manufactured by the German company Rheinmetall. The installation was presented in 2021. It has a 35 mm Oerlikon Mk3 automatic cannon which has an effective range of 4,000 meters and a rate of fire of 1,000 rounds per minute. In addition, Skynex is equipped with an X-band tracking radar. It provides an offline target search function. Such an anti-aircraft installation is capable of destroying UAVs, as well as cruise missiles.
