Tesla has shown significant progress in the development of a robot that is ready to become a human assistant.

Tesla has shared new information about its Tesla Bot or Optimus humanoid robot program. New images of prototypes look impressive – the project is becoming more realistic and no longer just fun.

The idea of creating a robot that can perform dangerous, monotonous or repetitive tasks instead of a human sounds like science fiction. But for Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, this is not just a dream, but a concrete plan.

Last year Elon Musk unveiled Tesla Bot concept , but then the demonstration did not impress the audience – the prototype robots could barely walk and move their arms. About 8 months have passed since then, and Tesla has made significant progress in the development of its robot. At Tesla’s annual shareholder meeting, Musk showed a new video of several Tesla Bot prototypes.

The video shows 5 Optimus prototypes performing simple tasks, walking around the company’s office and around the Tesla Cybertruck factory. The prototypes moved slowly, but their movements seemed to be stable. Robots have also demonstrated their ability to recognize and remember their surroundings.

Particularly impressive was the progress made in the development of robotic arms. Bots could pick up items from one container and transfer them to another, as well as copy human movements.

Tesla Bot will have a height of 1.8 m and weigh about 57 kg. The robot will be able to lift up to 20 kg and move at speeds up to 8 km/h. The robot’s face will serve as a screen to display useful information.

Musk also assured that the robot would not pose a threat to humans. According to the businessman, people should make sure that the company can take control of the robot in an emergency.

Musk said that “Optimus is a hugely underrated thing.” The Tesla CEO said that the demand for such robots in the future could reach 10-20 billion units. Musk even predicted that the Tesla Bot would account for “a large fraction of Tesla’s long-term value.”

Tesla plans to release the first version of the Tesla Bot this year. The company will hold a special presentation to demonstrate the capabilities of its robot. The release of the Tesla Bot promises to be one of the most exciting developments in the tech world. Perhaps we are on the threshold of a new era when robots will become part of our daily lives.
