Samsung flagships of 2017 unexpectedly received the One UI firmware update

Samsung has suddenly released a firmware update for its flagship smartphones that were announced in 2017.

What is known

The update is now available for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 +, which will mark their fifth anniversary early next year. The most interesting thing here is that six months ago, the company officially stopped supporting flagships.

The update G95xFXXUCDUK1 was released in Europe, but so far the geography of distribution is limited to France. The firmware is based on the Android 9.0 Pie operating system. The update brought the November 2021 security patch.

Recall that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + were presented at the end of March 2017 and appeared on the market with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed. They are now running Android 9.0, and the Grace UX firmware has been replaced by a new One UI shell. True, it didn’t get past the One UI 1.0 version.
