Samsung Galaxy S III announced in 2012 gets Android 12

Back in 2012, the premiere of the Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone took place. It hit the market with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, and almost 10 years later got Android 12.

How so?

Of course, the latest revision of the “green robot” is available with custom software, because support for the Samsung Galaxy S III ended on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. In this case, we are talking about the LineageOS 19.0 firmware.

According to the software developer, after installing Android 12, the smartphone can play video with software and hardware acceleration without any problems. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters, camera and radio app work. But due to the “dampness” of the firmware, not all LineageOS 19 functions are available.

There were some bugs too. NFC and SIM unlock function do not work. To run Samsung Galaxy S III with LineageOS 19.0 and Android 12, you must first disable the PIN using another smartphone.
