Sega Europe has laid off 121 employees at Relic Entertainment, a real-time strategy studio that includes Company of Heroes, Age of Empires and Homeworld. The reason was given as the need to concentrate forces and resources on major projects during this “difficult time for the industry”:
“This decision has been incredibly difficult,” Sega added, “Relic is a studio that values our people and is proud of the culture we have nurtured, and our focus now is on supporting departing workers in every way possible. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone of them for the role they have played in making Relic such a special studio.”.
