The cost of upgraded F-15EX Eagle II fighters may exceed million, but will be below 6 million

Boeing COO Steve Parker said last year that the upgraded F-15EX Eagle II aircraft would cost less than $80 million. However, Boeing Vice President Prat Kumar could not confirm that price for future deliveries.

What is known

Prat Kumar said the promise made last July at the Royal International Air Tattoo only applies to the first batch of fighter jets. According to the vice president, there are no real numbers yet, because. the contract has not been completed. But there is a “very active discussion” about this now.

Apparently, the F-15EX will rise in price, but will cost less than $106 million. A few years ago, the US Air Force estimated that in fiscal year 2025 the Eagle II price would reach $106 million per unit. However, Prat Kumar was quick to reassure everyone, saying that this figure was a reflection of the pressure after COVID-19.

It is worth noting that formally the promise of the chief operating officer of Boeing was not fulfilled. The cost of the upgraded F-15EX Eagle II fighter under the contract for the first batch was $80.5 million per unit.

Initially, the US Air Force wanted to purchase 144 aircraft, but eventually reduced the order to 80 units. However, in the fiscal year 2024 budget request, the service indicated the purchase of an additional 24 F-15EX fighter jets.
