The head of Nvidia urged to master artificial intelligence or risk losing competitiveness

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told Taiwan University graduates why they should master artificial intelligence or risk losing their jobs and competitiveness.

Jensen Huang, co-founder and CEO of the company Nvidiawhich develops chips for graphics processing and artificial intelligence (AI), made a speech in front of the graduates of the National Taiwan University in Taipei. He said the new technology will change the corporate landscape and impact every job.

“Agile companies will take advantage of AI and strengthen their position. Companies that are less flexible will perish,” Huang said. “While some are worried that AI will take their jobs, someone who is an AI expert will be in demand.”

AI technology that became popular after the launch ChatGPT by OpenAI last year, will be used as a sopilot to boost worker productivity in a wide range of industries, as well as create new jobs that didn’t exist before and make some others obsolete, Huang said.

Nvidia processors are the gold standard for training AI models like the one that underpins ChatGPT. Nvidia has become the main beneficiary of the race to offer alternatives to OpenAI technology. Huang, unlike other well-known figures in the global AI ecosystem such as Sundar Pichai of Alphabet Inc., Robin Li of Baidu Inc. and Sam Altman of OpenAI offered no warning.

Huang urged students to quickly create something new in the AI era or risk being left behind.

“For 40 years, we have created the PC, the Internet, mobile devices, the cloud, and now the AI era. What will you create? Whatever it is, run after it like we did. Run, don’t walk,” he said. “Either you run for food, or you run from not becoming food.”

Nvidia continues to develop its AI technology and introduce new products to the market. In March 2023, it announced new chips and technologies that will speed up computing for complex AI algorithms. Among them is Nvidia’s cuLitho chip for computer-aided lithography, which can greatly speed up the chip design process with GPUs. In addition, the company introduced a new line of GeForce RTX 4060 graphics cards based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, which provides high performance for games and supports DLSS 3 technology for improved image quality.

Nvidia is also actively partnering with major cloud providers such as AWS and Google Cloud to bring its AI technology to a wide range of customers. The company recently announced a partnership with ServiceNow to develop powerful generative AI capabilities for business processes.
