The UK buys 14 Archer SPGs from Sweden. They will replace the AS-90 self-propelled guns, which will be transferred to Ukraine

The UK has signed a contract with Sweden for the purchase of modern Archer self-propelled artillery mounts.

What is known

Information shared by the Ministry of Defense of Sweden. The UK will purchase 14 units from BAE Systems. The amount of the contract and the timing of the supply of weapons have not yet been disclosed. By the way, the Archer self-propelled guns will be replaced in the British army HEALTH AS-90which will be handed over to Ukraine in the near future.

Archer is a modern Swedish 155mm self-propelled artillery mount based on the Volvo A30D 6×6 chassis. It is manufactured by BAE Systems. Archer is designed to destroy manpower, artillery batteries, bunkers, as well as to provide passages in minefields and field barriers. ACS serve 3-4 people. It is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 60 km (depending on the projectiles).
