The Ukrainian Defense Forces captured a Russian wooden drone. This was reported by the Command of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
What is known
An unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down in early May in the Sumy region, which borders three regions of the Russian Federation. The homemade drone uses extruded foam and polystyrene.
The power plant is represented by the DLE-60 engine. It can be purchased from online stores. It is likely that the Russian army uses such drones to divert Ukraine’s air defense system during rocket attacks and launch Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones. Iranian UAVs usually fly through the Sumy region towards Kyiv.

It seems that the Russians were inspired by the experience of the Syrians. In 2018, Russian troops in Syria were attacked by homemade drones, incl. and wooden. You can see one of them in the photo above. The strength of such drones is a small effective dispersion area, which complicates the work of radar stations.
