The US Air Force will not be able to receive the upgraded F-15EX fighter jets, the Air Force One presidential aircraft and K-46A air tankers in time

We already wrotethat the achievement of the initial operational readiness of the Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missile under the $96 billion program is delayed by about a year. But the problems for the US Air Force do not end there.

What is known

The US Air Force will not be able to receive the presidential aircraft Air Force One, which is being built under the VC-25B program, on time. According to the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the project is more than 2 years behind schedule.

The GAO also says that deliveries of upgraded F-15EX Eagle II fighters of Batch 1B are delayed by six months. The reason is the production problems faced by Boeing.

The development of air tankers is also not going smoothly. Recently it became known that the cost of the KC-46A program exceeded $ 7 billion. Here, the key problem concerns the refueling boom and the Remote Vision System.

Testing of the new system is scheduled for December 2025. Boeing already needs $128 million, not $113 million, to fix the stiffness of Boeing’s fueling boom. The work will continue until 2025.
