Today was the release of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, but this is not a joyful event for fans of the Tolkien universe (Tolkien).
Critics have shared their impressions of the game and it’s … a disaster!
What is known
Critics are unanimous: The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a boring, monotonous, outdated and secondary game. The most eloquent evidence of this is the ratings on aggregators:
- on OpenCritic, the stealth action received only 39 points, and only 5% of reviewers recommend it;
- on Metacritic, the situation is slightly better: the PC version received 43 points, and on the PlayStation 5 the game was rated at 37 points.

It makes no sense to list the specific shortcomings of the game, because there are too many of them. The only bright side of Gollum was the familiar characters that appear in the frame, but they do not save the Daedalic Entertainment game.
