Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) has finally unveiled the T929 ATAK II helicopter. It happened at the Paris Air Show.

What is known

We dedicated a few materials for the new Turkish helicopter. ATAK II is equipped with two Ukrainian TV3-117 engines with a capacity of 2500 horsepower and in the spring of 2023 committed first flight.

ATAK II is being developed by TAI in cooperation with SBS. The helicopter is capable of carrying 1500 kg of payload. The maximum takeoff weight of the aircraft is 11,500 kg.

ATAK II is important for both Ukraine and Turkey. The first will be able to advertise its power plants, and the second will try to grab a part of the world market. The new helicopter is positioned as a competitor for the AH-64 Apache and Eurocopter Tiger, which have a maximum takeoff weight of 9,500 kg and 7,000 kg, respectively.
