Turn On or Off Pinch to Zoom on Touchpad in Windows 11/10

To turn on or off Pinch to Zoom on Touchpad, try any of the following methods.

  1. From Windows Settings
  2. From Registry Editor

Let us talk about them in detail.

1] From Windows Settings

Turn On or Off Pinch to Zoom on Touchpad

We should first see how you configure the Touchpad Zoom option via Windows Settings. It is obviously the easiest method as Settings is meant to simplify configuring the system.

If you want to enable pinch to zoom, try the following steps.

Windows 11

  1. Open Settings by Win + I.
  2. Go to Bluetooth & devices from the right panel.
  3. Click on Touchpad.
  4. Click on Scroll & Zoom.
  5. Untick the box near Pinch to Zoom.

Windows 10

  1. Launch Windows Settings.
  2. Then go to Devices > Touchpad.
  3. Now, untick Pinch to Zoom.

That’s how you can disable Pinch to Zoom on your Windows 11 or Windows 10 computer. If you want to enable it, just tick Pinch to Zoom.

2] From Registry Editor

If you want to flex your technical skills in front of anyone, a) I won’t judge you, and b) try enabling Pinch to Zoom using Registry Editor. Jokes apart, that is not the only reason you want to use Registry Editor.

We recommend you create a backup of your registries before using it to change your right-click option.

To do the same, open Registry Editor and then go to the following location.

ComputerHKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPrecisionTouchPad

Now, look for ZoomEnabled. If you can’t find it, right-click on the empty space and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name the newly created key ZoomEnabled. Then, double-click on it and set the Value data to (to disable it) or ffffffff (to enable it).

After making the adjustments, close Registry Editor, and you will be good to go.

You can enable Pinch to Zoom on a Windows 11 or 10 computer via Windows Settings or Registry Editor. We have mentioned both the methods above. So, if you want to enable Pinch to Zoom, go and read that section. I am sure you will be able to use Pinch to Zoom on your Windows 10 computer.

Why is my Touchpad zooming instead of scrolling?

Touchpad Zooms when you use your two fingers and it scrolls when you use your two fingers. So, it is quite easy for you to zoom instead of scroll. If you don’t want that and have no use for zooming, just disable Pinch to Zoom. We have mentioned two methods on how to do the same above. Just a pro tip, if you want to Zoom on a browser, just hold Ctrl and press +. This will do the job for you.

How do I fix my Touchpad zoom?

If your Touchpad is not zooming even after enabling the feature, try restarting your computer first, as that can save the alterations you have made in the settings. In case restarting is to no avail, try updating your Touchpad drivers, as the issue can be nothing but a glitch. If even updating didn’t work, reinstall your Touchpad drivers, and hopefully, that will do the job for you.
