U.S. found additional $6.2 billion for Ukraine due to error in valuation of transferred equipment in fiscal 2022-2023

Ukraine can count on an additional $6.2 billion in military aid from the United States. This became possible after the United States recalculated the aid already provided.

What is known

The US Department of Defense has released $6.2 billion for Ukraine, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said.

As it became known from the results of the audit, the United States overestimated military assistance to Ukraine by $6.2 billion. The reason was that old equipment and ammunition were valued at the prices of 2022-2023 financial years (FY).

In FY2022, the error in calculating military aid amounted to $2.6 billion. In FY2023, it reached $3.6 billion. Sabrina Singh stressed that by the end of FY2023 (September 30, 2023 calendar year), the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive weapons under the fastest support program, which involves supply from the Pentagon stocks.
