The United States has transferred a batch of highly mobile artillery missile systems M142 HIMARS to Syria. This is reported by the publication Anadolu Agency, citing local sources.
What is known
M142 HIMARS reinforced the American grouping in the province of Deir el-Zor (Deir el-Zour). It lies east of the Euphrates River and is controlled by the YPG/PKK forces. The launchers also arrived in the Al-Omar field area and the Conoco gas plant.
The US has decided to deploy M142 HIMARS to Syria to reinforce its forces and to counter attacks from Iranian-backed groups. They are located on the opposite side of the Euphrates River.
The US military has been attacked several times by Iranian drones. For example, about two months ago, a drone struck an object in eastern Syria. In response to the US struck F-15E Strike Eagle fighters.
