What is the Waves MaxxAudio Service Application used for?

Waves MaxxAudio Service is a part of the Waves Maxx Audio application that manages the audio of your system. The goal of the service is to optimize the audio performance of your system. The application is preinstalled on the system but this doesn’t mean that your computer won’t be able to produce audio if the service is not running.

Waves MaxxAudio Service is located in C:\Program Files, and the executable file is named WavesSvc64.exe. Ideally, they work in the background and do not consume a lot of system resources.

1] Download and run Waves MaxxAudio Installer

First of all, we need to get the latest version of Waves MaxxAudio Installer that will be suitable for your computer. This mostly works for users who have updated their operating system from Windows 10 to Windows 11 but it can work even if you have not upgraded but just updated your OS.

So, go ahead and download the latest version of Waves MaxxAudio Installer from your OEM website. For example, if you are on a Dell system, go to the support site and download the installer. Now, run the installer and see if the issue is resolved.

2] Turn off Waves Maxx Audio Service Application from Startup

As mentioned earlier, Waves Maxx Audio service is unnecessary for your computer. Lack of it wouldn’t make your system deaf. That is why we will turn the service off, as it takes many system resources. Disabling the service at a startup means that Waves Maxx Audio will not run when your system boots up. Follow the steps mentioned below to do the same.

1. Open Task Manager.
2. Go to the Startup tab.
3. Right-click on Waves Maxx Audio and select Disable.

3] Switch to the Generic Windows Driver

In order to do the same, follow the steps mentioned below.

1. Open Device Manager.
2. Expand Audio inputs and outputs.
3. Right-click on your current audio driver and select Update driver.
4. Select Browse my computer for drivers.
5. Now, click on the Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
6. Select a generic Windows audio driver (it can be of a different name) and click on Next.

Finally, reboot your system and check if the issue is resolved.

4] Stop Waves Audio for disconnected Account

This is not a solution, instead a workaround that can work for you if there are multiple accounts logged into your computer. Since there are multiple accounts, each one would have its own set of services running in the background. Ideally, all the background services should stop working the moment you sign out of a particular account. But ideally, you shouldn’t have to face such an issue.

To check if Waves Audio is running for your other account, open Task Manager. Now, expand Waves MaxxAudio Service Application. You will see two instances, right-click on the one that says “Disconnected” and then click on Sign off. Close Task Manager and check if the issue is resolved.
