Throughout the last few years WhatsApp has been improving privacy in your mobile applications with the inclusion of new functions such as the lock of the app with the fingerprint or the possibility of protect end-to-end encrypted backups with a password.

But the Meta-owned messaging app knows that we tend to have bad memories, and for that reason, it’s working on a new feature that will let you recover password of encrypted backups.

WhatsApp will allow you to verify and recover the password of your encrypted backups

Such as They confirm us from WABetaInfoWhatsApp is implementing in the latest Betas of the app to Android and iOS, with version numbers 2.23.9.74 and 23.9.77 respectively, a functionality that will allow you check if the password of end-to-end encrypted backups is correct and restore it in case you forgot it.

As you can see in the screenshots of both mobile operating systems that we leave you on these lines, to verify that the password of your encrypted backup copies in Google Drive and iCloud is correct you will have to enter it and click on the “Continue” button. When you do this, a message will appear as a reminder through which you can confirm that the password is correct.

Furthermore, in the event that you do not remember the password and want to change it, you can do so by disabling encrypted backup copies by clicking on the “Turn Off Encrypted Backup” button and then reactivate them with a new password that you have chosen.
