Llama Group has announced a new version of Winamp. Now it is not just a music player, but a whole streaming service.
What is known
Llama Group CEO Alexandre Saboundjian said that an updated version of the legendary player from the end of the 20th century will bring a fair reward to musicians. He acknowledged that modern streaming platforms allow artists to expand their audience. At the same time, Sabunjyan believes that musicians receive meager incomes and cannot have full control over how their content is sold.
The updated Winamp should solve this problem. The service will offer several subscription levels and up to 85% of income. In the future, the platform should be able to sell non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
The creators believe that a loyal policy will attract 1 million musicians. Winamp will be available to contributors on March 15th and will open to users on April 15th. The service will offer music, podcasts, radio, audiobooks and will be available on Windows, Android, iOS.
