The swelling effect of the battery in the Apple Watch has led to another class action lawsuit against Apple.

What is known

The lawsuit states that wearable gadgets are destroyed through no fault of the user. Bloating in watches is not a new problem. But, according to the plaintiffs, Apple did not provide enough buffer space inside the case to expand the battery, and therefore, if it swells, it completely destroys the device. In addition, the watch does not have a protective casing that would serve as partitions between the battery and the screen.

The problem affects smart watches Apple Watch of all generations, regardless of size, with the exception of Apple Watch Series 7. As you can see in the photo above, when the battery swells, the display breaks, and does not just come out of the seat. If damaged, “razor-sharp edges” appear that can injure the user. As an example, the lawsuit cites the Apple Watch Series 3 incident that inflicted a “severe cut” in the lower forearm.

Plaintiffs are seeking damages from Apple and compensation for a replacement watch. In addition, the lawsuit says that Apple knew about the malfunction of the devices before the start of sales, but at the same time deliberately withheld information about the defect.
