Last week the US officially announced on preparation for training Ukrainian pilots on F-16 in Europe. The White House is also developing a plan to transfer fourth-generation fighter jets to Ukraine. More details on Monday revealed US Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall (Frank Kendall).
What is known
According to Kendall, the training of Ukrainian pilots will take “months, not years.” At the same time, the secretary stressed that fourth-generation fighters may not become a “turning point” in Ukraine’s war against Russia.

Speaking about the terms of training, Frank Kendall noted the great desire of Ukrainian pilots to learn. According to him, he has never seen more motivated people in terms of the desire to jump into the fight and make a difference.
At the moment, there is no clear understanding of who, when and how many F-16 aircraft will be transferred to the Ukrainian Air Force. But there are hints. For example, the Netherlands refused sell 28 fighter jets to a private American company. In any case, the final decision will be made as the training progresses.

Another important point concerns the location of the aircraft. During a conversation with reporters, Frank Kendall suggested that the F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters would be based in Ukraine.
