Apple releases Android app for finding AirTag beacons

Apple released a new Android app called Tracker Detect to help people who don’t have an iPhone or iPad detect AirTags and other sensors on the Find My network.

The Apple Tracker Detect app for Android marks another attempt to improve the privacy of the Find My network device, and came about six months after AirTag went on sale.

If the Tracker Detector detects an AirTag that is far from its owner, it will be marked as “Unknown AirTag” in the application. After that, the app can play sound for 10 minutes after identifying the tracker. Once the beacon is separated from its owner, it can take up to 15 minutes before it appears in the app.

Recall formerly privacy defenders warned that Apple AirTag can be used to track and stalk people.

In June, Apple announced a firmware update for the miniature AirTag devices used to find missing items. Technogiant introduced some changes in the operation of the device and the time periods when AirTag notifies the owner about the loss of connection with him.
