Bell 412EP helicopter launched Hero-120 kamikaze drone and destroyed the target at a distance of 50 km

UVision USA and Axxeum have tested the possibility of launching a kamikaze drone from a Bell 412EP helicopter. The demonstration took place as part of the Experimental Demonstration Gateway Event 23 at the US Army training ground in Yuma, Arizona.

What is known

The test took place in May. During the event, the Bell 412EP helicopter was able to launch the Hero-120 kamikaze drone, which is equipped with a 4.5 kg warhead. Loitering ammunition successfully separated from the aircraft, flew 50 km and destroyed the target on the ground.

For more than half the distance, the operators who were on board the helicopter kept in touch with the Hero-120. Moreover, they even passed control of the drone to each other several times. The maximum communication transmission distance is 30 km. Then the drone flies without the participation of the operator.

Loitering ammunition developed by UVision USA. Axxeum created a system that allowed the launcher to be attached to the Bell 412EP. It is also compatible with other air transport.
