You can try the following fixes to make things normal again:

  1. Run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter
  2. Run SFC and DISM scans
  3. Check for Windows Update
  4. Re-register the Mail and Calendar app
  5. Repair or Reset the Mail and Calendar app
  6. Uninstall and reinstall the Mail and Calendar app

Let’s see all these fixes in detail.

1] Run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter

When Windows Store Apps do not start or crash unexpectedly or show some error, running the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter can fix the problem. Microsoft developed automated troubleshooting tools to help users fix some common issues on their Windows 11/10 devices.

Because Mail is a Windows Store App, you can run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter to get the issue resolved. After the troubleshooting process gets completed, check if you can open the Mail and Calendar app.

2] Run SFC and DISM scans

Run sfc scannow

Sometimes errors occur due to system files corruption. System File Checker scans your system for system files corruption and repairs the damaged or corrupted system files (if any). Run an SFC scan and wait till the process gets completed. If the problem was occurring due to the missing or corrupted system files, the System File Checker tool will fix it.

DISM Scan PowerShell

DISM tool also repairs the corrupted system image files, like the SFC tool. When the SFC tool fails to repair the corrupted system image files, the DISM tool is used.

3] Check for Windows Update

Download Windows Updates manually in Windows 11

Installing the latest updates released by Microsoft is recommended. The latest update packages contain security upgrades and fixes for the bugs reported by the users. Check for Windows Update. If an update is available, download and install it. After updating your Windows 11/10 system, check if the problem persists.

4] Re-register the Mail and Calendar app

Re-registering the Windows Store apps is helpful when the apps do not launch or display some error messages or crash after getting launched. Re-register the Mail and Calendar app for Windows 11/10 and check if you can launch it or not.

To re-register the Mail and Calendar app, you have to launch Windows PowerShell as an administrator then type the following command in it. When you are done, hit Enter.

Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps | Foreach Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml”

Let Windows execute the above command successfully. Do not close the PowerShell before the process gets completed.

5] Repair or Reset the Mail and Calendar app

If re-registering the Mail and Calendar app does not fix your problem, resetting it can fix the issue. The steps to reset the Mail and Calendar app in Windows 11 and Windows 10 are written below:

How do I fix the Mail app in Windows 11?

If the Mail app is not syncing or working properly on Windows 11, first, you should run the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter. If this does not fix the problem, check if any Windows update is available. Microsoft addresses the bugs reported by the users in Windows Updates. That’s why Microsoft always recommends its users keep their systems up to date.

If none of the solutions fix your problem, reset the Mail and Calendar app or uninstall it using Windows PowerShell and install it again from the Microsoft Store.

Why is my Windows 10 not opening apps?

If the apps are not opening on Windows, you can repair or reset them via Windows Settings. If repairing the apps does not fix the problem, reset them. You can also run Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter to fix the issue. In addition to this, re-registering the Windows Store Apps may also help.

You might need to update your password or give the account permission to sync to this device

If your Mail app is not syncing automatically you should update your password settings. Whenever any syncing issues are experienced, it is most advisable to update your Outlook Mail app0. At times, such issues are addressed in the cumulative updates that are rolled out by Microsoft hence make sure that you have all the latest versions of the OS and the Mail app installed.

Hope this helps.
