Google Photos feature "Personal folders" available on all current Android smartphones

As promised, Google is starting to roll out Personal Folders to third-party Android smartphones. The idea behind Private Folders is to keep your most private photos away from the main set of images and also make them available offline. Until now, this feature was only available on Pixel 3 and later devices, but now it extends to older Pixel models, among other things.

Users called the “personal folder” a “folder for storing nudity”, even when it was presented on Google IO 2021 in May. No matter if you have such or other confidential photos, the application stores them in a password or biometric code protected place so that children, friends or other people do not accidentally stumble upon them.

To use the feature, simply launch Google Photos, go to the Library section, and then to the Utilities section at the top. Click on it and a function setting card will appear on the screen if you have an update installed Google Photos from about November 29th.
