Windows 11/10 Safe Mode loads the operating system with a minimal set of system files and device drivers – just enough to load Windows. In safe mode, startup programs, add-ons, etc. do not start. 1]Press Shift and then click Restart.

The easiest way to boot Windows 10 in Safe Mode is to click Shift and then click on Restart… This will reboot your Windows 10 computer into Advanced Startup Options

2]Open the “Recovery” section and click “Restart now”.

V Windows 11, open Settings> System> Recovery> Advanced Startup and press Restart now

V Windows 10, open the Settings app> Update & Security> Recovery… In the Advanced Startup section, click Restart now

If you use either of the two methods mentioned, your Windows computer will restart and you will see the following screen.

Press Troubleshoot continue.

Now follow the instructions outlined in the “Advanced Startup Options” section in Windows.

It walks you through the entire process, starting with – Troubleshoot> Advanced options> Startup options> Restart> Press key # 4.

If you followed the procedure correctly, you will finally reach Startup Settingsfrom where you can enable Safe Mode.

Press “4” key and your computer will restart and enter Safe Mode… To reboot into Safe Mode with Networking, press the “5” button. To reboot into Safe Mode with Command Prompt, press the “6” button.

3]Use MSConfig or the System Configuration Utility

Another easy way, of course, is to use the built-in system configuration utility. From the Win + X menu open the Run window and type msconfig and press Enter.

Under Boot, check Safe boot and Minimal options… Click Apply / OK and exit. After restarting, your computer will immediately enter Safe Mode.

You can now work in Safe Mode.

Before leaving, remember to open msconfig and uncheck the Safe Boot box, click Apply / OK and then Restart so that when you restart, your computer no longer boots in Safe Mode, but instead boots from your desktop.

4]Boot into Safe Mode using the command line.

You can run the following command in an elevated command prompt and restart to boot Windows 10 in safe mode.

bcdedit /set current safeboot minimal

To exit safe mode, use:

bcdedit /deletevalue current safeboot

5]Through the login screen

  • When you reach the login or login screen, hold down the Shift key, press the power button, and then select Restart.
  • When your computer restarts, click on Troubleshoot> Advanced options> Startup options> Restart.
  • On reboot, select option 4 to boot into Safe Mode.

6]Turn on the F8 key and use it.

You need to enable the F8 key first and then use it to boot into Safe Mode,

7]Boot from Windows recovery disc

You need to create a USB recovery drive already.

  1. Now restart your computer and boot from the recovery disc.
  2. Choose your keyboard layout based on your preferred language
  3. Select Troubleshoot> Advanced options> Startup options> Restart.
  4. On reboot, select option 4 to boot into Safe Mode.

8]Using Windows installation media

Boot your computer from the Windows installation media.

Click Repair Your Computer.

Select Troubleshoot> Advanced Options> Command Prompt.

Run the following command:

bcdedit /set default safeboot minimal

Select “Continue” to exit and boot into Safe Mode.

Does F8 Safe Mode for Windows Work?

The F8 key, which used to help you boot into Safe Mode, is not enabled by default. You have to use this procedure with CMD to enable it first. After that, you should be able to boot into Windows Safe Mode using the F8 key.

How do I boot into Windows Recovery?

Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) is a companion operating system that is installed with Windows 10 in a separate partition.

  1. You can use recovery media to boot into Windows RE.
  2. Fulfill reagentc / boottore at an elevated command prompt and restart your device to load WinRE.
  3. Fulfill shutdown / r / o at an elevated command prompt and restart your device to load WinRE instead of Windows 10.
