How to turn Public Services into a profitable business using phishing?
Collectors are not a problem if you collect other people’s debts on the Internet.
Police in Ufa delayed a fraudster who stole the personal data of 130 Russians at the State Services. He used the information he received to apply for microloans.
According to law enforcement agencies, the man created several phishing websites that outwardly resembled the official portals of the State Services and other government agencies.
When users entered their credentials, the scammer recorded phone numbers, email addresses and passwords from the accounts of their victims, and then, using this information, gained access to real State Services.
The man applied for microcredits in different banks – for small loans, the personal presence of a person is not required. He withdrew money through anonymous electronic wallets.
“After the credit limit was exhausted, he destroyed the accounts along with all information about their use,” Irina Volk, an official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, explained in detail.
A criminal case has been initiated under the article “Illegal access to computer information”, and now the fraudster has been transferred to St. Petersburg.
“Currently, the detainee is in St. Petersburg, he was subject to restrictions on certain actions. We are carrying out operational-search activities aimed at identifying all cases of illegal activity, ”Volk emphasized.
