
The Royal Air Force of Great Britain received a new batch of fifth-generation F-35B Lightning II fighters. The planes arrived at the base in Norfolk.
What is known
Lockheed Martin shipped two aircraft to the United Kingdom from a factory in Fort Worth, Texas. Fifth generation fighter jets flew in together with the Royal Air Force Voyager air tanker.
The United Kingdom has already received more than 30 F-35B Lightning II fighters. A few years ago, one of them crashed while landing on the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth. In total, the UK bought 48 fifth-generation fighters for the Air Force and Navy.
The United Kingdom has ordered only F-35B short takeoff and vertical landing aircraft. Deliveries will last until 2025. It is possible that the UK will order a few dozen more fighters, but the final decision is yet to be made. not accepted.

Initially, the United Kingdom planned to acquire 148 F-35B fighters. Discussions are currently underway regarding the purchase of 74 aircraft. This amount will be sufficient to meet NATO air policing obligations, and deliveries could begin at the end of this decade.
