On October 15th, Xiaomi is expected to launch its new flagship smartphones, the Mi 10 T and Mi 10 T Pro, in India. The Mi 10 T collection, as teased on Twitter, will be accompanied by a brand new pair of TWS earbuds.
Earlier this afternoon, Xiaomi went on Twitter to share a short video preview for the next audio accessory to be released in India. The caption reads, “It looks like we have a brand new product for you in store.” If you are someone like me and closely follow the product releases of Xiaomi, you will know that it is the Simple Mi True Wireless Earphones 2. This pair of TWS earphones were first released in China as the Mi AirDots 2 SE, followed a few months later by a global launch.
Basic Mi True Wireless Earphones 2: Specifications
This is Mi True Wireless Earphones 2’s younger brother, which was released back in May this year in India. Compared to Redmi Earbuds S, it features a wider square-shaped shell, while the earphones look pretty much the same. It weighs 48 grammes, while the weight of each earbud is just 4.7 grammes.
The same as its older sister, these TWS earbuds come fitted with 14.2 mm dynamic drivers. In order to allow environmental noise cancellation (ENC), each earbud is fitted with two high-sensitivity microphones. If you haven’t noticed yet, these earbuds have a half-in-ear feature. Wear recognition is enabled, and the stem features touch controls to play music, answer calls and activate a voice assistant.
SBC/ AAC codec support for Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Standard. As for the battery life, on a single charge (earbuds + case), Xiaomi promises up to 20 hours of total playback. The earbuds will play music for up to 5 hours, which is okay-ish. The earbuds can be charged up to four times in the charging case and juiced up through the USB Type-C port on the back.
These earbuds are priced at EUR 39.99 (around Rs. 3,460) and we believe that India will have a similar price tag.
Earlier, we hypothesised that the Poco Pop Buds might come to India as Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Simple, but that does not seem to be the case here. Poco has confirmed, for those unaware, that it will launch TWS earphones in the nation and even conducted a poll to decide on the aforementioned name.
