The Ukrainian Defense Forces are armed with a very unusual armored personnel carrier. It is called “Otaman”.
What is known
The armored vehicle was developed by the state enterprise Zhytomyr Armored Plant in 2015. The key feature of the armored personnel carrier is the system for quick mounting of armored modules “Gadfly”. Their installation takes 35-40 minutes.
The Ukrainian combat vehicle is based on the GAZ-66 chassis. The engine is located in front along with the control compartment. To accommodate military personnel, the aft and middle parts of the armored personnel carrier are provided.
The crew of the car consists of two people. The body of the armored personnel carrier is made of steel armored plates. Also, “Otaman” is different in that it exists in a single copy.
