The Strong Museum has announced the applicants who will take their rightful place in the Video Game Hall of Fame

New York Museum The Strong announced the applicants for induction into the Video Game Hall of Fame.

What is known

Games are selected based on a variety of criteria, including cultural influence, industry significance, notoriety, and popularity. Most importantly, games must be iconic, recognizable, recognized by millions of gamers and critics, and influencing the video game industry and popular culture.

A strict jury selects the most worthy interactive entertainment from thousands of applicants.

Don’t be surprised that there are no modern blockbusters on the list of annual nominees, since it is extremely difficult to assess their impact on the industry at the moment.

Anyone interested can take part in online voting, which will run until March 22. The opinion of gamers will be taken into account when determining the winners, which will be announced by a strict jury on May 4th.

In 2023, the following games were nominated for placement in the Hall of Fame:

  • Age of Empires (1997) – The cult real-time strategy game became Microsoft’s best-selling game and gave rise to a popular franchise.
  • Angry Birds (2009) – showed that mobile games can be extremely popular. The game has been downloaded over 2 billion times!
