White House orders TikTok to be removed from government devices

The authorities have given 30 days to remove the app for reasons of national security.

The White House has directed US government agencies to remove TikTok from corporate devices within 30 days. About it reported edition of Reuters, referring to the representative of the White House.

The direction of the administration of US President Joe Biden came after Congress in December introduced a bill , banning the use of TikTok on federal government devices. The bill is linked to a national security risk due to the fact that ByteDance (the parent company of TikTok) can transfer access to the data of American users of the service to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

National security experts speculate that the Chinese government may be using TikTok to spread disinformation and manipulate the service’s algorithms to spy on Americans.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said the PRC opposes “the wrong practices of the United States, which generalize the concept of national security, abuse state power and unreasonably suppress firms from other countries.”

In March, TikTok CEO Show Zi Chu will testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where he will answer questions about the platform’s relationship with the CCP, the service’s practices to protect consumer privacy and data, and its impact on children.
