General CYBERCOM expects large-scale cyber attacks from unfriendly countries.

The head of US Cyber ​​Command (CYBERCOM) and the NSA, General Paul Nakasone, has requested additional funds from the White House to finance his cyber campaigns. Nakasone is sure that one of these days Russia will launch large-scale cyber attacks.

The Pentagon has asked the Joe Biden administration for $11.2 billion for US cybersecurity in 2023. For comparison, this is $800 million (nearly 8%) more than the Pentagon’s previous request.

At closed hearings in the Senate, the general said that Russia remains “a very dangerous adversary.” Nakasone did not specify what exactly the allocated funds will be spent on. He only noted that the money will go to “cooperate with the FBI” and “guarantee the protection of NATO.” According to the general, the US Cyber ​​Command “should be aware of the methods that Russia can use in cyberattacks.” Nakasone did not say exactly how the US will receive information.

In addition, according to the Cyber ​​Security Strategy, released on March 2, the US expects threats from North Korea, China and Iran as well. The strategy implies that the US can use “any tools” to eliminate digital threats both inside the US and outside it.

“Our goal is to create a secure, resilient digital ecosystem where attack costs more than defense,” the document says.

In 2022, U.S. Cyber ​​Command released details of its “Hunt Forward” mission in Ukraine for the first time. which was aimed at protecting Ukrainian systems from Russian hackers . According to CYBERCOM, 40 specialists from the United States participated in the mission – the Navy and the Marine Dandruff Corps – together with the Ukrainian Cyber ​​Command. Kyiv gave the US access to several networks, and work continued until the start of the NWO. It is not known if the mission ended there.
