Meta* launches AR glasses that can project holograms in the real world
The company said that the release of such glasses is comparable to the release of the first iPhone.
The augmented reality glasses, being developed under the code name Orion, will be able to project holograms into the real world. Meta* employees will be the first to get the chance to test the AR glasses next year – the product won’t be released to the general public until 2027.
For example, glasses Orion will allow you to play chess with a hologram and interact with it
The glasses, which have been in development since 2015, will be capable of projecting high-quality avatar holograms into the real world, which Meta* believes will be a revolutionary technological breakthrough similar to the launch of the iPhone in 2007. Meta* CEO Mark Zuckerberg believes that AR glasses will replace smartphones in the future. It should be noted that Reality Labs is responsible for the development of AR and VR technologies in Meta*.
Previously, a group of computer scientists showed how anonymous VR players can be deanonymized to a specific person by simply tracking the movements of their head and hands for a few seconds.
* The Meta company and the company’s products (Instagram and Facebook) are recognized as extremist organizations; their activities are prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation.
