Russian IT-shniks can avoid the army and work in the public sector
Deputy Lantratova put forward the idea of introducing a qualification exam, which would give a reprieve from the army.
For IT specialists in Russia, there may be a chance to get a deferment from the army and work in government agencies without a higher education. Such a proposal put forward First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Education Committee Yana Lantratova from the Just Russia – For Truth faction. She sent a corresponding letter to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Lantratova believes that many experienced IT specialists cannot get a job in state corporations and state companies because they do not have higher education in their specialty. She also notes that only those IT specialists who have a diploma from a certain list of specialties can receive a deferment from military service.
Lantratova proposes to consider the possibility of creating a special qualification exam for Russian IT specialists, which, if successfully passed, will allow them to receive the same rights and benefits as those with higher specialized education. This applies to deferment from conscription for military service, as well as the opportunity to work in state corporations, state companies and government bodies.
Lantratova notes that the existing rules lead to a violation of the rights of talented Russian specialists in the field of information technology, who for various reasons do not have a specialized education. And the public sector is losing the ability to attract such workers.
