The US Department of Defense has published photos of the Abrams M1A1 tanks, which will be used for the Ukrainian military training program.
What is known
The pictures were taken on May 13-14, but they were published only now. The photographs show the transport of tanks to the landfill in Grafenwöhr, Germany. By the way, crew training will start in the coming days and will last for 10 weeks. After that, in early autumn, the tanks will be sent to Ukraine. In total, the APU will receive 31 Abrams M1A1 tanks from the United States.
For those who are not in the know
The United States announced the transfer of Abrams tanks to Ukraine in January. Initially, it was a modification of the M1A2. Later, it became known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive older versions of the M1A1, which are in service with the US Army. Thanks to this, combat vehicles will be delivered this year, and not in 2024.
