Windows was unable to install your Network Controller
1] Download the LAN Driver from OEM and run the setup
If the LAN driver is failing to install on your system, you either have a wrong or corrupted copy. In that case, we must find and install the correct copy. First, we need to find the correct model to do the same. For that, open Run, type “msinfo32”, and click OK. Now, look for the System Model.
Once you know the model of your system, go to asus.com. Enter the model name in the designated field to search for your model, and then click on Driver & Utility. Next, you need to select the operating system from the drop-down menu, go to the LAN section, and download the available driver.
A ZIP file will be downloaded to your computer. You have to extract and run the setup of the driver, and you will be good to go.
2] Manually update the driver using Device Manager
If you cannot install the driver by running its setup file, use Device Manager. Move the downloaded driver folder to an easily accessible location. Once done, follow the steps mentioned below.
- Hit Win + X and click on Device Manager.
- Expand Network adapters.
- Now, right-click on the LAN driver and select Update drivers.
- You then have to click on Browse my computer for drivers, navigate to the location where you stored the driver file, and select it.
- A restart is required after the completion of installation.
Finally, check if the issue is resolved.
You can use any one of these ways to install Drivers in Windows.
3] Remove the Yellow exclamation mark on the Network Controller in the Device Manager
If you see a yellow exclamation mark in the Device Manager against the Network Controller, we need to find a remedy. Even though you can still connect to the Internet, we can’t just let it be. To resolve the issue, you need to install the WiFi driver as an associated card is built into your motherboard. For that, check the first solution, download the latest version of the Asus WiFi driver, and then install it.
Hopefully, this resolves the issue for you.
