In select markets, Samsung today released its rugged Galaxy Tab Active 3 tablet. It comes with MIL-STD-810H certification and the protective cover provides shock absorption capable of withstanding drops of up to 1.5 metres.
An 8-inch WUXGA TFT LCD display with a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution is available on the Galaxy Tab 3. The two-year – old octa-core Exynos 9810 chipset on the Galaxy Tab Active 3 was used under the hood by Samsung. You get 4 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage, which can be further extended with a microSD card to 1 TB.
The company has fitted a primary rear-facing 13MP sensor along with an LED flash as far as the cameras are concerned. Samsung includes a front camera with 5MP for selfies and video calls.
The Galaxy Tab Active 3 is targeted at users who, in difficult or extreme situations, are likely to use the tablet outdoors. Therefore, even when the user is wearing gloves, the company has packed features like ‘Touch Sensitivity’ that supports touch input.
With the tablet, you get an official IP68 rating. The S Pen included in the Active 3 Galaxy Tab is also IP68 certified. The S Pen is suitable for the capturing of signatures and the handling of complicated documents in gloved environments, according to the brand.
A replaceable 5050mAh battery was used by Samsung on the Galaxy Tab Active 3. In addition, the tablet can be charged via both USB and POGO pins. As long as the device is connected to a dedicated power source, you also get a ‘No Battery mode’ that provides power without the battery.
The tablet runs on Android 10 out of the box with one UI skin on top. Fortunately, the dedication of Samsung to deliver three generations of updates to Android extends to the Tab Active 3 as well.
